It reminds me of a book I read called “Wild Goose Chase.” It talks about how Celtic Christians referred to the Holy Spirit as An Geadh-Glas, or “the Wild Goose”. The book then goes on to describe how this imagery fits into the wild and untamed Spirit of God. It will leads us to some crazy places. It goes on to say:
“...nothing is more unnerving or disorienting than passionately pursuing God. And the sooner we come to terms with that spiritual reality, the more we will enjoy the journey. I cannot, in a good conscience, promise safety or certainty. But I can promise that chasing the Wild Goose will be anything but boring!”
My advice would be to simply go adventure. Do something that makes you feel alive! So you aren’t into kids’ comics? Find other ways to tap into your sense of adventure. Read people like John Muir, go do a mud run, travel somewhere you never thought you could go, eat a strange food.
But I would also add - I don’t think there’s a greater adventure than that of being a Christ-follower or going where “the Wild Goose” may lead you. So, more than anything else… try asking God what’s next… then get ready to go.
