For someone it might be rainbows; for some else, the first sprigs of green pushing through the snow after a harsh winter; or for another, the sight of newborn animals in the spring. I personally feel most hopeful watching the sun rise.
Watching the rich colors blaze on the horizon I am in awe of God and His creation. It's humbling to realize I am a part of it and also exciting to think of what is yet to come, what He has planned for me.
A similar awe, excitement, and anticipation must be what the people felt when they first heard Isaiah describe the branch from Jesse. Who couldn't wait for a leader with wisdom , understanding, and fear of the Lord? Who wouldn't crave a time when enemies would come together in peace and collectively allow themselves to be led by someone who wasn't self-seeking? Who wouldn't want to live in a time of peace?
Living in today's divided world that probably sounds like an impossibility. But if we have Jesus as our banner and rally to Him at all times and in all circumstances that peace can be ours now. And that is definitely something to be hopeful about!
